VoIP Investments VoIP Technical Info |
VoIP investments showing potentialVoice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) investments are showing positive signs as many companies launch new VoIP services. Leading cable companies such as Comcast, whose 1Q profits roared to $466 million, are catching up in the digital voice realm. Launching new VoIP services to customers is important as the cable companies try to catch up with the VoIP services of the regional Bell companies.Level 3 Communications, Inc. recently announced they have been selected by EarthLink, Inc. to provide underlying packaged VoIP services. Skype™, the global Internet communications company, recently announced that it has acquired Sonorit Holding AS and its US subsidiary Camino Networks, Inc., a provider of voice technology for the Internet. The acquisition will allow Skype to add some of the leading experts in online voice engineering to its own team of technologists to help design and develop Skype for the future. Vonage, a VoIP service provider, recently surprised the market by announcing a significantly higher price for its up-coming IPO. The new number, which is double what it said it wanted at the beginning of the year is a surprise as much because many commentators had suggested the company was less than confident about its IPO prospects. Now that AT&T has acquired BellSouth for $89 billion, many looking to investin in VoIP are looking away from cable companies, although some analysts believe Comcast is trading too cheap to pass up. It might be too early to tell exactly who will win the VoIP market, but for those who have done their research on VoIP service providers, the investments in VoIP could bring favorable returns. |
